You may have a good point and his quitting his teaching position and aligning with the conservatives is prepping for something bigger, maybe a run in politics? Who knows? Maybe he is pivoting to conservatism, but I don’t think he is that political.

I put him in the same box as Bret Weinstein who is another university professor who was removed for his anti-Postmodern stance. He too is a Modernist by training (being a scientist) and can’t wrap his head around Postmodernism.

I use the term ‘Postmodernism’ to mean the social construction of reality, as opposed to Modernism which is the objective or scientific construction of reality. Jordan uses the term ‘Cultural Marxist’. This is code word for the Frankfort School and Critical Theory. It has lead to Critical Race Theory for example. It is a combination of Freud and Marx with the idea that subconscious forces shape society. (As opposed to Marx who believed that economic forces shape society.) Although Jordan doesn’t understand these Postmodern theories, he is correct in his realization that Critical Theory has taken over much of social ‘sciences’ at universities around the Western world.

Where Jordan fails miserably (in my opinion) is his unbiased belief in the merits of capitalism. There is a huge wealth inequality in the world due to capitalism, and Jordan Peterson completely ignores this most basic problem. Maybe that is why people see him as a ‘conservative’?

Anyway, thanks for the deep thoughts. I’d love to hear what you experiences from Prague are like. Maybe you could write something about your expat experiences?
