What makes America great is not the government, but that it was founded on great ideals: truth, justice, freedom, democracy, constitutional government, and the rule of law. It may never have lived up to these ideals but at least it tried.

Today, people are losing faith in these ideals. The state is perverting these ideals to enact its power. The first ideal it destroys is the idea of 'truth'. Once people don't believe in truth all faith is lost. War is perpetuated in the name of democracy.

One should not give up on these ideals, but rather hold those in power to these higher standards. You can't hold those in power accountable if you don't believe in justice.
