What is missing here is a discussion of Locke’s influence on latter philosophy and thinkers. Specifically, Locke’s ideas of work as the justification for ownership seems to be the foundation of Marx’s idea that all ‘value’ is created through ‘labor’. It seems Marx’s ideas would be impossible without standing on the shoulders of Locke. And, of course, the American Revolution was directly influenced by Locke.

Locke must be understood in context of his influence on latter thinkers.
