To really understand this trend you need to look at the devaluation of labor across the board. Women devalued labor by essentially doubling the work force, and you are correct all the unpaid work they did created whole new sectors in the economy. The family, after their work was devalued, also had to pay for child care, elder care, fast food, etc… . So the family hasn’t gained from women entering the workforce, but now must pay to have this work done. The bigger picture is labor has been constantly devalued, by sending jobs overseas, importing illegal aliens to work as low paying labor, having women work, and mechanizing as many jobs as possible. The problem is the devaluation of labor. Women working is just one element in a larger trend/agenda.
