There is a segment of the environmental movement that thinks climate change can be solved by capitalism and technology. This is because there is a lack of understanding of the problem.

The problem is that capitalism over-produces (creates surplus-use value) then makes us over-consume. Until this core problem is addressed, all technological fixes are like putting lipstick on a pig. They are just advanced forms of 'green washing'.

The real solution is to reevaluate modern 'production' so we don't over-produce. For example, instead of building thousands of miles of electrical train tracks, we create 'on-demand' self driving cars. One solution over-produces surplus-use. One solution produces just enough use-value.

We need to stop listening to uber-capitalists like Bill Gates and Jeff Bezos, and actually revise the over-production of capitalism.
