The term 'systemic racism' is vague and used to disempower blacks, feed white guilt, and stop people from looking at the deeper causes. What exactly is the social mechanism for this system? Is it economic, psychological, socially learned, or is it some other mechanism? If it is socially learned, we can unlearn it. If it is economic, changing wealth inequities will solve the problem. If it is psychological maybe we need to look at our subconscious biases. If it is institutional, then we need to change our institutions. Just saying racism exists, and not explaining the mechanisms stops any real discussion of how to solve the problem. It just feeds into our social anxiety and learned helplessness.
