The problem with lying is it is asymmetrical. As they say; 'A lie is halfway round the world before the truth has got its boots on.'
Even if you call out a lie, and tell the truth, the lie distorts reality and puts truth on a spectrum with the lie on one side and truth on the other. People then believe something in between. In other words, it breaks dialectical thinking, and distorts what is real, even if we don't believe the lie. This creates a reality distortion field where you can never truly get back to reality.
