The problem with electric vehicles is an infrastructure one. People with single family homes with a garage will have no problem charging their car, but many people have no dedicated parking space and may have to park on the street. In many cities like San Francisco dedicated parking structures are few, and people park where they can on the street. Without solving this most basic problem electric vehicles cannot be universal.
