The problem is over-production and over-consumption due to capitalism. Putting ‘production’ first, we treat all nature as a ‘natural resource’ to be exploited. Instead of analyzing the problem of ‘over-production’, we get political narratives that either promote free-market capitalism, or perhaps worse state controlled capitalism. Solutions are jumped at without any understanding of the problem of over-production. Our first step should be defining the problem correctly, before jumping at random solutions.
