The premise that creators can't earn a living from their creations is a good thing is faulty.
Take a look at it from the perspective of intellectual property. 'Creators' are artists; photographers, filmmakers, writers, musicians, etc... . They create art, and their art is being stolen (not paid for) by social media like Facebook, Instagram, Youtube, etc.... This devalues art in general. Why pay a photographer when you can get their photos for free on Instagram?
So now an artist must either live in obscurity and not use these media platforms, or give away their art for free. Theses media platforms harvest the intellectual property of others, and do not pay them the fair value for it. We are living in a capitalist economy where it is legal to take someone's intellectual property and use it, own it, make money from it, while paying the creator nothing.
This situation may have been going on in our culture for a long time, think musicians who were scammed by their record company, but it does not make it fair or good.
