The idea of climate changes comes from several 'Marxist' concepts, namely 'uneven development' and 'sustainable development'. This does not make the idea of climate change wrong, but it does put a political spin on all discussions. You can read more about it here: https://medium.com/@jaime-roberts/the-problem-of-sustainable-development-b75bb1ad0425

Since the problem definition was Marxist, the solutions too are socialist. They revolve around setting up a world bureaucratic state that regulates consumption. A 'carbon tax' is in many ways the ultimate regulation of consumption as it would tax just about everything in Modern life.

The other solution to climate change that is not being discussed is to produce more sustainably. For example, build more hydroelectric plants, or a low voltage energy grid for solar and wind.

Since the issue of climate change has been politicized we really can't have good conversations around solutions. The left just wants to implement a corporate/bureaucratic state that regulates all consumption, while the right wants to deny climate change entirely.
