The Democrats in Congress passed legislation to hire more than 100,000 new IRS workers. Previously, they had passed legislation to go after gig workers who make over $600 through Venmo or Paypal. They are going after the poorest and least powerful workers, the gig workers: nannies, maids, landscapers, taxi drivers, etc... .

The Democrats have become a neoliberal party, and in many ways are further right than Republicans. When it comes to taxing the poor, the Democrats have the Republicans beat.

California, is a good example of where we are headed. They have an aggressive tax board that goes after small businesses. Yet most of the state's revenue comes from millionaires and billionaires. (40% of the state's revenue comes from people making over $1 million a year.) Instead of aggressively going after big businesses and high worth individuals they go after the working class.
