The civil rights movement has evolved into protecting human rights through the banning of 'hate speech'. It has evolved into a form of left wing fascism where the state and institutions must protect people against 'speech'. Students have been conditioned not to see freedom of speech as a 'human right'.

In a society that is increasingly becoming totalitarian and for a better word 'fascist', students are just expressing the values of this age. I think older people don't see it because its happened slowly over time, but young people have been born into it.
