The alternative to capitalism is actually quite simple.
Instead of creating 'surplus-value' (capital) and organizing all of society around over-production and over-consumption, we instead create an 'on-demand' economy where we create just-enough. Production is limited to demand, and consumption is limited to just what people need. Society then, is based on on-demand products and services, not surplus-value.
The fact that people can't see this very simple solution points to the fact that capitalism ( and Marxism) has brainwashed people into thinking surplus-value and mass production are absolutely needed.
