Sustainable architecture could mean many different things from climate responsive buildings to 'NetZero' carbon emissions. I would focus on one thing.

I think you are trying to describe climate responsive buildings. Here are some ideas:

Passive Energy Strategies: Using Sun, Wind, and Light. Rainwater. Building orientation, windows, overhangs, trees, etc...

Biofilia and Nature: Bringing in Plants into the built environment. Integrating nature into the building. Bringing the outside in. Green roofs.

Mixed use buildings for work, living, and play. No need for transportation to work.

I would start with figuring out what problem you want to solve. Low energy? Reduced carbon? Climate responsive? Easily built? etc... Solve one problem at a time.
