Sorry, I thought you were in the US, and were referring to the overthrow of Roe vs. Wade in 2022. This ended the right to abortion for women and many states revoked access to abortions. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Abortion_law_in_the_United_States_by_state
Expecting the government to protect the rights of women, in the US at least, is not a good idea. Women need to empower themselves by other means.
Women active in local and state government as you say is a great way to have participatory democracy. But unfortunately, women are just as anti-abortion as men in some states.
