Banks, corporations, and governments are looking for new ways to implement digital currency that is controllable and programmable. 'Programmable money'. Governments and banks will kill Bitcoin because they can't control it.

The future, as depressing as it sounds, is programmable money. Governments will give out free money, and if you don't spend it, they will program it to have negative interest rates. Then when everyone is hooked on free money from the government, they will program your money as they want. The good thing is they will have direct control over the economy and not need to raise interest rates, or need to control inflation. They will simply control your money and your access to it. The bad thing is governments and banks will have direct control over your programmed money. Serfdom is nothing compared to what is coming.

Bitcoin could be a hedge against this as no one controls it, but governments will destroy it and implement their own digital currencies. We will see absolute authoritarianism in the digital currency space in the coming years.
