SEO internal and external to Medium sucks. If you google yourself (I don't use google but DDG) you will see your Medium articles are not in the top ten search results. Your website comes up first. Then a doctor's site. Then a TikTok video. Then Youtube. Then your Amazon books. Then your Facebook site. Then Twitter... Then #11 in search is your Medium page. You put all this time into writing on Medium, and it doesn't show up in search. You would get more readership on a blog on your website than on Medium. You could probably monetize your blog better than Medium too.

I have a Youtube channel too, and I compare the views I get there to the views on Medium and it is 100 times, to 1000 times more. It has discouraged me to post on Medium and encouraged me to make more videos.

I think the future for writers will be Youtube podcasting, where people can just listen to writers rather than read them. Depending how Youtube does podcasting, they may blow Medium away.
