People are smarter than you think. They don't trust climate scientists, not because they don't understand the scientific method, but because climate scientists don't follow it.

Many people get information about climate change from IPCC reports issued every year. This is an amalgam of real science, proprietary climate models, and pure social construction.

Proprietary climate models are copyright by the scientists and data analysts that create them and are not duplicatable by other scientists. There is no way to peer review such models. Often these models are mixing many forms of data both observational and social. Social data is not scientific and often uses projected economic data such carbon production.

Your article starts to speak to the social construction of science. Science is expensive and only is funded, peer reviewed, and published if it has social 'value'. Money, power, social acceptance, and other factors filter real science so only socially acceptable science is accepted as fact. This isn't the scientific method, it is socially constructed science.
