One of the worst bits of advice I received as a young man was to 'work hard'. The harder I worked, the less I got paid, and the more employers took advantage of that hard work.
The best advice to give young men is:
1. Don't work hard.
2. Own something.
3. Be a monopoly- have knowledge and skills no one else has.
It took me into my 40s to learn not to work hard. Society is based on production, and men being productive. Working hard is tied to a man's self worth. But capitalism rewards people who own production, and exploits people who are productive.
