Meanwhile, during the many power outages we've had over the last few years the state runs gas powered generators because they electric company hasn't maintained the power lines to prevent fire.

Where I lived last year, they turned off the power on a regular basis and everyone in the neighborhood was running gas-powered portable generators for days at a time all summer.

This is not the apocalypse or the end of civilization, but a manufactured crisis.
