Most folks who have a problem with Peterson are Postmodernists. Jordon doesn’t understand Postmodernism well enough to argue against it, but he knows he doesn’t like it. I think in Europe Postmodernism has become a political party, while in the U.S. it has taken on an almost religious dimension in people’s lives.
The politics behind Postmodernism is definitively ‘state capitalism’ where the there is an interpenetration of big business and big government. This is needed for environmental actions like ‘carbon taxes’ where all production and consumption would be taxed. Peterson is fighting against an ‘administered society’ where the state controls consumption. Again, I don’t think Peterson understands Postmodernism enough to articulate this.
So there is a political agenda behind climate change: state capitalism. Europe is onboard, as is half of the U.S. . The other half of the U.S. sees this as form of fascism. Peterson has inserted himself in this argument and perhaps on the losing side.
