Let me give you the opportunity of having a two way conversation...

I think you, and so many keyboard warriors, think that social media is about dialog, free speech, communicating ideas and values, etc... it is not. Social media is about consumption, and turning you into a good consumer.

Politics becomes a commodity to consume for self-identity. Politicians are sold to us as 'brands' instead of people or policies. That is why we got Regan, Obama, and Trump. This is why people are so passionate about politics even when they have no idea how government works.

Social media is actually capturing your consciousness so you can't have substantive conversations with people. Do you really think you can discuss any topic in 280 characters or less?

The 'silos' you speak of are actually consumer demographics. Advertising established this a long time ago. Look at music for example, it is demographically broken down by hip-hop, pop, country, classical, etc... all based on consumer demographics.

Look how many 'followers' Kim Kardashian has and tell me these platforms are for dialog and not consumption.
