In California Gavin Newsom signed into law a requirement for all architects to take continuing education classes every time they renew their license for 'Net-Zero' classes. Net-zero is actually impossible for architects to achieve as all building materials use carbon: steel, glass, concrete, aluminum, plastic, etc... . It is possible to reduce the energy a building uses in its life cycle, but impossible to be completely 'net-zero'. Instead of calling the classes 'sustainable architecture' they are calling it 'Net-zero'. Instead of focusing on real things, it seems everyone is focused on the latest catch phrase.
