I would argue that Trump is a Modernist using Postmodernist political techniques which is why the Postmodernists on the left hate him so much.

I think people are confused about Democrat vs. Republican as the political landscape shifts. As the Democrats have abandoned socialism and the working class they have moved on to Postmodernism. Democrats have become the party of white collar professionals who argue for social justice. Trump sensing that shift courted the abandoned working class. We don’t live in a world of liberal vs. conservative anymore, instead it is Modern vs. Postmodern.
