I think your idea is similar to Edmund Husserl’s Phenomenology. Phenomenology was big when I was in school. I’m not a fan of Phenomenology but I love Husserl’s student Jose Ortega y Gasset’s who said “I am me, and my circumstances”. In this way he linked objective and subjective knowledge into a whole system. Gasset was trying to overcome the objective idealism of science and return to a new form of realism. Scientific maps always need to be linked to ‘lived experience’, (what I call ‘data’) or they digress into idealism.
