I call this phase in capitalism "captured capitalism" because instead of using advertising to hook consumers, the consumer is 'captured' by intellectual property, debt, and monopolistic corporate practices.
Look at the upside (playing devils advocate), you will receive all your services on-demand, before you even know you need it. Your carbon foot print will be reduced because you own nothing, just rent it. You won't even own your cloths as they will be sent to you via Amazon, and then you can send them back when you are bored with the style.
"Captured Capitalism" will first seem like 'Post-Capitalism" or even socialism. Corporatism may seem like communalism, but corporations will own everything.
